FAQ

How does the online program work? You will start this program with an assessment test, then you will continue to your classes. At the end of each class, you will complete your class by taking the final test for that class. In most classes, the classwork is worth 50% and the final test is worth 50% of the overall score for that class, thus increasing the odds of students passing the class. After you have successfully completed all your classes, you will submit a "request to graduate" form to have your classwork and scores reviewed. If your request is approved, you will receive an Exit Letter (via email) letting you know that you have successfully completed your program.

What is the difference between a high school diploma and a General Education Development (GED)?A high school diploma signifies that the student has attended and successfully completed all required courses in a traditional classroom setting. The GED is a set of 5 exams that determines whether the test-taker has a high school graduate’s level of knowledge. While many four-year colleges and universities will accept students with a GED, others may be more hesitant. A high school diploma is universally accepted at colleges and universities. Also, students who have a diploma and have demonstrated good grades will often be eligible for financial aid that individuals with a GED cannot get. Generally, having a high school diploma will enhance your future prospects. In most instances, a diploma will be viewed as superior. Colleges, universities, and businesses are more interested in accepting and hiring diploma holders. Statistics show that you will be better prepared for college and therefore are more likely to complete a four-year degree, which in turn will increase your career opportunities. For those who do not wish to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree, the benefits of a diploma versus a GED are still prevalent. On average, those with a high school diploma earn $1,600 more than those holding a GED. Diploma holders also avoid the stigma often attached to those with a GED, who are sometimes perceived as lacking persistence, motivation, and reliability.

Do you accept high school transcripts?Yes! To receive high school transfer credits, an official transcript from an accredited institution recognized by Superior Learning must be submitted via email for evaluation. Transfer credits will be evaluated for comparable high school subjects where a full credit has been earned. Since high school programs vary, only an evaluation by Superior Learning will determine the actual number of transfer credits to be awarded. The maximum number of transfer credits allowed is 16.
